Have you ever felt so unbelievably lucky? So lucky, that it makes you wonder why you?

Sometimes things get thrown my way, and I have no idea why. As an artist, it’s easy to forget how much your “art” is a part of you. If I’m in a bad mood, for no apparent reason, it’s usually because I have forgotten to pick up my guitar or a pen and paper to write.

I get grumpy when I’m not evolving as an artist and it takes a lot of inspiration to encourage me to continue singing, and writing and creating. It’s easy to forget how important certain things are, and how they are directly linked to your personal contentment. But then, something amazing happens. Something that reminds me exactly why I’m an artist. Something that runs so deep, my bone marrow ripples. I have no control over my emotions, and I feel unstoppable. It feels as though there’s nothing else I’m meant to do.It’s not surprising that one would find meeting their Idol, inspiring. I’ve seen Chantal Kreviazuk perform 3 times before. Each time, my eyes teared up a little, my heart raced, and my soul smiled.

The music she creates resonates with me so greatly that I find myself wishing I had written it. A certain phase or melody line makes me wonder “darn why didn’t I think of that”. I strive to write as in depth as she does. It’s so pure, so honest, so wonderfully amazing.

But I don’t just admire Chantal for the music she creates. She’s also a mom. Of three boys. 1, 2 Three! Thats insane. I have one, and he keeps me on my toes. Three must lift you right off the ground. But then again, maybe thats why her music is so unbelievably inspiring. I guess I better have a few more.

I also admire the humanitarian in her. This event she was most recently performing at was a fundraiser for a mens rehabilitation center. In between the songs she performed she shared a little about why she feels compelled to help people around the world. She said something along the lines of “Believe me, what happens over there or here, is my busininess. it’s my kids business. I’ve always felt that way, and my song “Hope” talks a little about just that. It’s refreshing to see someone successful with their art, who has managed to balance a career and family all while helping people who just need a little extra love.

I must thank Ron and Matt from Ron Sombilon Gallery for giving me the opportunity to be a part of such a wonderful evening. Their work, is absolutely outstanding and well worth taking a peek! Plus they always get to work with the neatest people.

I had a brief chance to chat with her, and I told Chantal that Canada is lucky to have her voice. And we are, in more ways than one.
